Developments in handheld control for robots
Hand held control for robots is taking a quantum leap forward with the development of a range of next generation application software devices, based on the Microsoft.NET Compact Framework
The IRB5400 utilises a new style process arm, with the paint application equipment, plus the ABB Integrated Process System (IPS), mounted in its upper section.
The IPS features closed-loop regulation and high-speed control for paint and airflow adjustment, ensuring minimal overspray and uniform paint film build.
The Paintbox robot order includes the incorporation of computer aided programming (CAP) software, as well as full robot programming and training, which will be carried out in collaboration with ABB in Malmo, Sweden.
ABB Account Manager, Paul Carter comments: "The order was secured through a combination of factors including the strong ABB relationship with ADAC Paintbox, the existing customer experience with ABB paint robots, and the significant paint savings that ABB process arm robots can deliver".
Paintbox specialises in the top quality finishing of a wide range of plastic components for automotive and tele-tronic industries.
Its new unified Banbury production complex has three spray booths, two baking ovens, two paint-mixing rooms, two preparation areas, two cleaning areas, eight polishing bays and three machinery rooms.
