The cost of electromagnetic flow measurement has been cut by up to 20 percent with the launch of the FXL4000 (COPA-XL range) flow meter from ABB Designed as a low cost solution for standard flow metering applications, the COPA-XL features a light-weight sensor with integrated electronics

It offers a cost-effective method of measuring flow in a wide range of chemical and water industry applications, including drinking water conditioning plants, dosing stations and sewage treatment plants.

Although a low cost device, the COPA-XL does not compromise on quality or capabilities.

It is a full specification device, incorporating 4-20mA retransmission, an on-board display for the setting of parameters and a configurable contact output.

A plain-text menu makes for easy setup, while in operation, the large, high-contrast display indicates the current flow rate in the first line and the total count in the second line.

The ABB COPA-XL is designed for pipes with a nominal size of DN 10-300.

Easy to install, the power supply and the signal outputs of the ABB COPA-XL are simply connected via industrial quality connectors, saving time and money.

With no moving parts and zero maintenance, the ABB COPA-XL can be installed directly in the pipe without the need for additional mountings.

The COPA-XL is a true full bore meter and causes no additional resistance to flow.

Operating on 24V AC/DC power supply, accuracy of the COPA-XL is +/-0.5 % of indicated flow rate.

The device's optocoupler can act as a pulse output with a minimum and maximum pulse width of 20 ms and 2,550 ms respectively, and at a maximum rate of 20 pulses per second.

Alternatively, the output of the optocoupler can be assigned as a forward or reverse flow signal, a minimum/maximum contact or a system alarm.

The COPA-XL can operate under process conditions of up to +80C, and in an ambient temperature range of -25 C to +50 C.

The device has a protection class of IP65 and complies with the NAMUR-Recommendations NE21, Electromagnetic Compatibility for Equipment in Process and Laboratory Systems 5/93 and EMC Guideline 89/336/EWG (EN50081-1, EN 50082-2).
