ABB has expanded its 2600T pressure transmitter range with the addition of a new device suitable for use in harsh process environments Manufactured from stainless steel 316, and with an all stainless steel sensor diaphragm, the type 261 pressure transmitter offers a high level of resistance against corrosion, making it suitable for process and ambient conditions between -50C and +120C

Protected to IP67, the transmitter housing is also resistant to water ingress, enabling it to withstand the effects of cleaning and sterilisation-in-place processes.

Options within the 261 range include FDA approved hygienic process connections and fill fluids.

The 261 transmitter construction, plus its wide choice of process connections, makes it ideal for use in the power, pulp and paper, oil and gas and chemical industries as well as food and beverage and pharmaceutical production applications.

Measurement accuracy is ensured by the use of microprocessor technology, enabling the 261 transmitter to deliver a base accuracy of +/-0.15% of calibrated span.

To ensure continued reliability and safe performance, the 261 transmitter also carries out self-diagnostic checking of both the transmitter electronics and the sensor, making it suitable also for use in SIL2 environments.

Process data is clearly displayed via the unit's high-contrast graphical display, whilst the menu-driven interface provides operators with a quick means of selecting data on settings and alarms.

Push-button programming also enables simple configuration and adjustment of parameters including the device zero and span settings.

Based on the HART 4-20 mA protocol, with Profibus variants becoming available, the 261 transmitter can also interface with the ABB device type management (DTM) software, allowing configuration, adjustment and diagnostics to be carried out either on a standalone PC or from a process control system.

All 261 transmitters are certified to comply with ATEX Ex ia and the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and are available with threaded and flanged connections, as well as a wide selection of remote seal options for high temperature applications.

The 261 transmitter series will form part of the products on display on the ABB trailer, which is currently visiting locations around the UK.

For more information about the trailer, including a list of dates and locations, please phone, or consult the website.
