ABB gets green light to join utilities database
ABB Instrumentation has now added its details to the Achilles Utilities Vendor Database following a glowing report on its performance and quality standards by Achilles inspectors earlier this year
ABB Instrumentation has now added its details to the Achilles Utilities Vendor Database (UVDB) following a glowing report on its performance and quality standards by Achilles inspectors earlier this year.
As from August 2005, ABB (Supplier Number 71384) has become a registered supplier on the UVDBverify database in recognition of its high standards in Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality practices and procedures.
The database forms part of the Achilles Supplier Management Service, which is used by the utilities to source current and potential suppliers.
This service is available to purchasers of equipment for power, water, petrochemical and gas utilities to help identify suppliers that can best match their requirements.
In order to join the database, suppliers first have to undergo a rigorous verification inspection, encompassing all aspects of their performance in the three key areas of health and safety, environmental practices and quality.
Following two separate inspections throughout 2005, ABB was awarded high marks in all three areas, entitling it to add its details to the UVDB database as a verified supplier of instrumentation products and services for the utilities market.
Says Gareth Dean, General Manager for ABB instrumentation UK: "Achieving Achilles verification and being added to the UVDB database represents a tremendous achievement and underlines our continuing commitment to ensuring that we provide the highest levels of quality to our utilities customers.".
