New TUV certified SIL2 temperature transmitter
ABB has extended its range of HART temperature transmitters with the addition of a dual-compartment version, that offers independent SIL2 certification from TUV
The recorders can also be set to email these recipients with current status reports, providing a clearer overview of process conditions.
Users are also presented with an expanded range of remote configuration and adjustment functions, ideal for applications where recorders are installed in isolated or inaccessible locations.
Depending on their access privileges, a user can now remotely reset alarms, reconfigure parameters, operate and interrogate totalisers, enter on-screen messages for local operators and even fully reconfigure the recorder.

All actions are logged by an internal audit trail which records any configuration changes made, together with details of who made the changes and when.
The details of all datafiles created and many other events key to processing data security, such as calibration changes, are also logged, ensuring that data integrity is preserved.
All recorded data is stored by 8MB on-board solid-state Flash memory cards, which can store up to 2.8 million samples of data.
To prevent data being lost when the cards become full, a new 'wrap-around' facility added to all SM recorders automatically deletes the oldest recorded files in order to make room for new data.
A new clock synchronisation feature allows operators to set their installed SM recorders to the same clock to ensure simultaneous collection of data.
By ensuring that all recorded data is stamped with the same times and dates, the recorders make it easier to identify potential causes where problems occur, enabling them to trace other events in the process that occurred at or around the same time.
For water industry users, a key upgrade to the SM series is the ability to record both flow totals and minimum and maximum flow rates together with their associated times and dates.
To help make recorder data easier to view on screen, all SM recorders now offer a chart zoning function, enabling users to divide the screen into zones each containing a different trace.
In addition, the SM3000 is now capable of displaying up to six process views on one screen, providing users with a clear overview of their process.
Details of any process alarms are also clearly displayed on the screen, allowing users to quickly ascertain which process has the alarm.
A horizontal chart view option available with all SM series recorders means that users can now scroll data left to right and vice versa.
A screen-snapshot function, which works in the same way as the Print Screen option on a PC, also enables users to create an image of a screen from a particular moment in time.
