Acquisition of Aztec analytical
instrumentation
ABB strengthens its capabilities in the water utilities sector with the acquisition of the Aztec analytical instrumentation business from Severn Trent Services, based in Didcot, Oxfordshire
ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has strengthened its capabilities in the water utilities sector with the acquisition of the Aztec analytical instrumentation business of Severn Trent Services (STS), based in Didcot, Oxfordshire The acquisition is effective from 31 March 2007, and affects 22 STS employees

The acquisition includes the Aztec range of water monitors, as well as service support and reagent supply activities associated with a large installed base in the UK.
ABB also concluded an agreement to add a residual chlorine monitoring capability to its expanded portfolio.
"ABB is already a major supplier of analytical equipment and instrumentation to the global water industry, and also provides a wide range of electrical and automation products and systems such as drives, motors, switchgear, transformers and control equipment", said Josef Guth, head of the ABB global instrumentation business: "These new additions to our product range complement and strengthen our capabilities both locally and globally, especially in the area of analytical instrumentation".
