ABB shares Profibus expertise at June
conference
ABB will be making two presentations at this year's Profibus UK Users Conference, which takes place on 26th and 27th June, at Coombe Abbey in Warwickshire
Gareth Johnston, Fieldbus Communications Specialist for ABB in the UK, will use his presentation to discuss the benefits of switching to predictive maintenance and condition monitoring by using the information that can be gathered from intelligent field devices Information supplied by Profibus-enabled instruments can be used to monitor their own status and performance, as well as that of the process

Johnston will explain which information is required and how ABB software can use it to prevent plant and process equipment failures and reduce downtime.
Alexander Kaiser from ABB Germany will discuss the design considerations underpinning a Profibus process automation project.
Particular attention will be given to explaining how to calculate the communications speed of a design to make sure it meets the fundamental requirements of the process.
Communications speed is vital in order to deliver a responsive control system, that can keep up with fast-moving process changes.
A free copy of the ABB Profibus Layout Design Tool will be offered to anyone who attends this presentation.
This is the fourth time that ABB has contributed speakers to the annual Profibus UK Users Conference.
To support the presentations, ABB will also be hosting a stand at the accompanying exhibition.
The stand will feature the 800XA Control System with Fieldbus connectivity and a wide range of Profibus devices.
The 2007 event programme will be of great value to instrument technicians and engineers, C+I engineers and system engineers involved in design, operation and maintenance of modern process and manufacturing plant.
