ABB releases wallchart to aid PPC compliance

An ABB Automation Tech (Instrumentation + Automation) product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Oct 2, 2008

A new wallchart and MCERTs pack is now available from ABB providing a step-by-step guide to meeting the latest Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) regulations.

The wallchart details the process involved in achieving PPC compliance, and the instruments available from ABB for PPC installations.

Aimed at industrial companies that come under the PPC regulations (now known as the EPR, Environmental Permitting Regulations), the wallchart features a diagram explaining the four key stages involved in achieving and maintaining PPC compliance.

The wallchart also highlights the various instruments available from ABB which meet the requirements of the EA Monitoring Certification Scheme (MCERTs) for use in PPC installations.

Products featured include ABB Magmaster and WaterMaster electromagnetic flowmeters, both currently undergoing MCERT product certification, and CalMaster flow meter verification service.

When fully certified later this year, these products will be ideal for companies required to self-monitor their effluent flows under the PPC regulations.

These companies need to have had their sites visited by an MCerts inspector no later than 31st December 2008.

Other options featured include ABB gas analysers for measuring air emissions, which were the first products to achieve MCERTs accreditation in the UK.

There are also examples of other instruments that can be used in PPC installations.

These include ABB field-mountable SM500F data recorder, ideal for localised data collection, and a range of liquid analysis systems for measurement of various parameters such as pH, turbidity and ammonia.

ABB can also offer expert guidance on all aspects of PPC compliance through its engineering services arm.

Comprised of multi-discipline teams of consultants and engineers, ABB engineering services can help companies at all stages, from preparing a permit through to implementing the quality assurance processes needed to ensure continued compliance.
