ABB names Workington as Centre of Excellence

An ABB Automation Tech (Instrumentation + Automation) product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Nov 14, 2008

ABB's factory in Workington, Cumbria, has been named as the group's Centre of Excellence for temperature measurement in the oil and gas industry.

'Centre of Excellence status gives us a real opportunity to focus on the oil and gas market and grow the business globally,' said Andrew Dunbabin, manager for temperature products in global oil and gas.

Workington has been producing instrumentation for the oil and gas industry for many years, building on the heritage created by Bush Beach Engineering.

The existing recognition and vendor approval in oil and gas enjoyed by the site was one of the key factors in ABB's decision.

The Workington factory will continue to work closely with expert temperature teams elsewhere in the ABB group, notably Alzenau in Germany.
