Dechema has appointed Phoenix MarCom of Cambridge, UK, as its media and public relations agency to promote Achema international exhibitions
The largest contingents of exhibitors come from Germany (2,268 exhibitors), Italy (242), Great Britain (202), Switzerland (172), the USA (150) and France (129).
Whereas company closures and mergers have caused a drop in the number of German exhibitors, the greatest increases come from Asia.
The main challengers are companies from China, South Korea, India and Taiwan.
However, European countries (such as Spain, Poland, Turkey, Ireland and Belgium) and Central and South American countries (Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia) are also consolidating their presence in Europe.
For the first time the proportion of overseas exhibitors, 41.1%, has exceeded the 40% mark (as compared with 38% in 2000).
91 % of exhibitors are from Europe.
There is a new hall structure and enhanced visitor-friendliness at ACHEMA 2003.
With 138,510 square metres net exhibition area ACHEMA 2003 will only fall short of comparable figures for 2000 by 4.9%.
This demonstrates tremendous stability compared with similar events.
It is now traditional that the biggest exhibition group should be Pumps, Compressors, Valves and Fittings (849 exhibitors), followed by Laboratory and Analytical Techniques (693), Thermal Processes (395), Mechanical Processes (380), Engineering (321), Instrumentation, Control and Automation Techniques (304) and also Pharmaceutical, Packaging and Storage Techniques (289).
The new Halls 3.0, 3.1 and Hall 4.2 are home to the exhibition group with the most dynamic growth rate, Pharmaceutical, Packaging and Storage Techniques; its area has expanded by an incredible 38% over the year 2000, thus defying all prognoses.
The groups Pumps, Compressors, Valves and Fittings and Thermal Processes are close runners-up.
The most strikingly international exhibition groups are Literature, Information, Learning and Teaching Aids (62.7%), Pumps (48.8%), Thermal Processes (48.4%) and Laboratory and Analytical Techniques (44.2%).
Environmental protection and biotechnological equipment are integral general topics at ACHEMA and are represented in all exhibition groups.
The around 1,200 exhibitors from the sector of environmental protection and 1,100 from biotechnological equipment make ACHEMA the most comprehensive event in the world for product and production-integrated environmental protection and for equipment, processes and services in the biotechnology sector.
For decades biotechnology and biotechnological equipment have ranked among the cornerstones of ACHEMA.
Approximately 1,100 exhibitors will present the world's most extensive range of equipment for biotechnology together with biotechnological products, processes and services.
Biotechnology is becoming increasingly interlinked with the conventional disciplines of the process industries, be it DNA chip production, large-scale cultivation of cells or the development and production of pharmaceuticals.
Close to 25% of all visitors to ACHEMA 2000 expressed their interest in biotechnology.
In order to cater for the growing importance of this field, biotechnology has its own individual exhibition group.
At ACHEMA 2003 this will be complemented by a world-class Biotechnology Conference.
These two features have pride of place in the most attractive exhibition hall on the Frankfurt exhibition grounds: the new Forum.
In 10 plenary lectures and over 120 other lectures by distinguished international experts, including several Nobel prize winners, just about every topic that currently affects the biotech community is represented.
The spectrum ranges from targets and drugs, protein design and production, tissue engineering, systems biology, structural genomics, computer-aided drug discovery, pharming, stem cells, bioprocess engineering to legal aspects, financing and intellectual property rights.
Daily discussion forums will cover the commercial aspects of biotechnology.
Equipment, plant, processes and services for all areas of environmental technology have long since been a standard feature of ACHEMA.
Approximately 1,200 exhibitors will present the latest processes and services.
The exhibition and congress programmes reflect current trends and developments in this sector.
Some representative themes of the congress are: Green and sustainable chemistry, Sustainable water management, Water quality control, New sensors for environment and industrial water systems, Adsorption technologies for waste gases, Airborne particles, Eco-efficient waste management, and Material and energy flow analysis.
Integrated environmental protection has been one of the hallmarks of ACHEMA for several decades.
The current environmental policy of the European Union has given new impetus to the development of integrated solutions for environmental protection and of efficient cleaning techniques.
Best available technologies (BAT), eco-efficiency und green chemistry are the new buzz words.
The overall assessment of emissions, recovery of resources, and costs is fast becoming the main criterion for investment decisions.
The upswing of international orientation is also anticipated for visitors.
The increasing demand comes particularly from Asia, Western Europe and also from Central and Eastern Europe.
The main reasons given for a visit to ACHEMA are the general and specialised information on leading-edge technological developments, and networking.
Of the 200,000 international visitors expected, approximately 40,000 rank among top management.
75% of visitors come from industry.
In the year 2000 28.9% of visitors were from overseas; this marked the beginning of a soaring trend.
Despite the distinct fall in the employment figures of the chemical industry in Germany from about 700,000 in 1991 to now around 460,000, the number of visitors during the past decade has stabilised at just over 200,000; at the same time the proportion of visitors from overseas has undergone a constant upsurge.
Whether the topic be reactor concepts or catalysts, water technologies or laboratory and analytical techniques, the ACHEMA Congress with HOT topics and over 800 lectures covering the whole spectrum of the ACHEMA exhibition groups and further trail-blazing themes from the process industries, will provide the answers.
The congress will pinpoint trends and perspectives for new developments, for instance in the fields of chemical nanotechnology, fine and speciality chemicals, particle technology, sustainable chemistry, separation technologies, food technology, supply chain management, water technologies, material and energy flow analysis, management of chemistry parks, fuel cell technology.
Besides the actual congress, contact forums in individual halls will familiarise the broader professional public with themes of general interest.
In particular the panel discussions on fascinating, highly topical themes and the ACHEMA Worldwide Economic Forums (China and Mexico) are expected to attract a great deal of attention.
A new feature is the ACHEMA Recruitment Forum.
It is becomingly increasingly difficult to find qualified, specialised employees or to find the right job, let alone on an international scale.
For the first time, therefore, the newly created ACHEMA Recruitment Forum offers all exhibitors and job-hunters a new platform for customised meetings.
From 31 March 2003 onwards, vacant and wanted positions can be posted at no charge via www.achema.de/recruitmentforum or, during the event, at the Galleria information desk.
The Recruitment Forum will be accessible online until 31 July 2003.
Individual contacts with exhibiting companies can be made by e-mail or on the spot at ACHEMA.
In view of the inevitable flood of information and an anticipated total of 4,000 exhibitors there is only one remedy: to make the most of your visit to ACHEMA you need to plan it in advance.
To assist you, the DECHEMA electronic media provide an excellent service for visitors.
Since February 2003 it has been possible to prepare your visit to ACHEMA online using the ACHEMA Internet Catalogue at www.achema.de or as a download file for pocket PCs (PDA).
Since March this year the ninth edition of the CD-ROM "WOICE of ACHEMA" (World Catalogue of Chemical Equipment) has been available for comprehensive searches for ACHEMA know-how.
The increasing number of hits on the ACHEMA Internet pages from almost 100,000 in September 2002 to 1,700,000 in March 2003, demonstrates how intensively the latest information on the Internet is used.
During the same period the number of user sessions rose to around 50,000, which signifies a 20% increase over ACHEMA 2000.
Today worldwide networks are the key to successful research, and few sectors have been more affected by globalisation than the process industry together with apparatus and plant design.
Technological competence, global presence, services and costs are crucial factors for success in the high seas of international competition.
From today's standpoint one can appreciate the foresight and single-mindedness with which DECHEMA has pursued the "ACHEMA worldwide " concept which was first mooted in the 80s and has meanwhile been implemented.
Based on the tried-and-tested ACHEMA concept, three exhibition-congresses on three continents in a three-year cycle provide exhibitors with access to worldwide networks and growth markets.
Besides ACHEMA in Frankfurt am Main this means ACHEMASIA which made its d?but in Beijing in the People's Republic of China in 1989 and ACHEMAMERICA in Mexico City which was launched successfully last year. Request free introductory details about products from Achema 2009 ...
