Wireless performs well in heavy-metal
environment
Adaptive Wireless Solutions have received an order for a wireless sensor network for use in the hostile electrical environment of a power generation plant
The engineers at a UK power generation plant were initially sceptical about the claims made for wireless sensor network reliability having had limited success with other wireless approaches and suffering patchy performance with wireless voice communications on the site anyway However following an evaluation at a coal fired power station, the results have given the confidence to now invest in some further larger systems for extended field trials

Wireless condition monitoring of elec substations
Adaptive Wireless Solutions have completed a successful trial of a wireless sensor network providing remote condition monitoring of substations for a major electricity distribution company
The power station staff were impressed with the range and reliability of the wireless mesh network technology, which uses techniques similar to those used on the internet, to find alternative routes through the network in order to overcome the effects of signal fading and interference from physical obstructions and other radio frequency signals.
