Utilising its unique 'Polartherm' triple layer insulating material, Aerotrim can offer a complete range of insulated transport solutions for medical, pharmaceutical, or other sensitive products.

A far cry from the everyday cool bag material, Polartherm was developed using NASA space program technology.

It comprises an inner reflective layer, a hollow-fill fibre centre and a tough woven PVC (optionally fireproof) outer skin.

Chosen by The National Health Blood Service, Polartherm carry bags and pochettes are now specified for the transportation of blood to central processing centres at temperatures above 18deg C or below 10deg C.

Trials have shown that the system will maintain blood at +18deg C for up to 9 hours and between 4-10deg C for up to 18 hours.

In the perishable food area the MoD are utilising Polartherm pallet covers for food transhipments.

In trials it was demonstrated that Polartherm would maintain the temperature of frozen food below -18deg C for more than six hours in 30deg C ambient conditions.

The same applied to hot food.

In this case cooked rice at 87deg C was packed into 20L Polartherm bags at an ambient of 21deg C.

The container was opened to simulate deliveries and overall the rice remained above 63deg C for over 2 1/2 hours.

Independent trials at Cambridge Refrigeration Technology have proved that Polartherm has the best thermal insulating properties in its class, with a thermal conductance (C-value) of 1.19W/m(degreesK).

Polartherm insulated transport and storage systems are available as bags, pallet and roll cage covers, or load covers generally.
