During this time subsidiary companies were established in France, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland and the UK, initially as sales offices, later with engineering facilities to meet local market requirements.
The European aspect of our Group was highlighted by the choice of the Euro name for every newly established subsidiary company with the addition of either -index or -gauge to link the name with its core business - a measuring scale or instrument.
1962 saw the establishment of Eurogauge Company Limited, initially as the UK sales office for the range of mechanical, pneumatic and electronic tank contents gauges and electronic level switches, from the German parent company.
Rapid success in the UK market place, particularly in the food manufacturing industries, necessitated the start of local manufacture in East Grinstead, in West Sussex, close to Gatwick Airport, where the company acquired new premises in 1966 and erected a purpose-built factory to house local manufacturing, design and test facilities.
Today, the Group is still privately owned with a turnover of approximately 66 million Euro, and employs some 600 people in its 12 member companies.
There are four European manufacturing establishments, one being Eurogauge in the UK, which through their specialist knowledge after 30 years experience in electronic level measurement, became the Group world-wide point of contact for electronic level switches and level indicators.
In the global market place the Group has recently added the Afriso name to Eurogauge, and we are now known as Afriso Eurogauge Ltd.
We have also acquired the former UK sister company Afriso EC Gauges, from Colchester, adding a complete range of pressure and temperature instruments to our level products.
