Kvaerner Pulping to modernise Brazilian

Kvaerner do Brasil has signed a contract with Aracruz Celulose SA to modernise the bleach and re-causticising plants at the Guaiba mill in Brazil, in an order worth USD 12 million
Kvaerner Pulping AB has through its subsidiary Kvaerner do Brasil signed a contract with Aracruz Celulose SA to modernise the bleach and re-causticising plants at the Guaiba mill (former Riocell) in Brazil, an order worth USD 12 million The order is part of a modernisation and capacity increase project run at Aracruz Guaiba, with intention to enhance the nominal capacity to 430,000 tonnes bleached eucalyptus pulp per year

The modernised bleach plant will comprise a three-stage bleaching sequence, including a new compact press.
The re-causticising plant, equipped with a new PDW filter as well as a new lime mud filter, will produce 5,200 m3 white liquor per day after the rebuild.
The Kvaerner Pulping delivery is on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.
Start-up is scheduled to November 2005.
