The Environmental division of Alfa Laval has successfully passed an audit of its management, quality, environmental and Health and Safety procedures to qualify for the UVDB (Utilities Vendor Data Base) Verify programme Operated for and on behalf of the UK leading utilities the UVDB is a supplier database used by the UK utility industry to source and pre-qualify current and potential suppliers of major products, services and works to over sixty utilities and major contractors covering the electricity (including nuclear), water, gas and telecom sectors

Suppliers may be sourced through the UVDB for anything from a one-off purchase to contract and framework agreements, for values ranging from several thousands to many millions of pounds.

UVDBverify is a standardised Safety, Health, Environment and Quality assessment - operated on behalf of subscribing utilities and suppliers and contractors - comprising an agreed set of qualification criteria against which they assess their contractors and suppliers.

In the Alfa Laval case, assessments were carried out at their UK HQ in Camberley and at a selected Sewage Treatment Works where they have supplied and maintain the sludge dewatering plant.

According to the assessment Alfa Laval employs "Well-structured Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality management systems" and scored particularly heavily for its H and S and Quality procedures, with a 100% rating for quality achieved on site.
