Caustic evaporation system order for the USA
Alfa Laval - a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling - has received an order for an evaporation system to be delivered to the American company Pioneer Americas
The objective of the project is to increase the capacity of and modernise the customer's facility in Louisiana.
This is the largest Alfa Laval caustic evaporation system order to date, and includes evaporators, heat exchangers and services.
This evaporation system increases the concentration of sodium hydroxide from 32% to 50%.
"This order confirms the Alfa Laval significant presence and leading position in the heat transfer technology and, as in this case, in the evaporation area," says Lars Renstrom, President and CEO of Alfa Laval: "It also shows the strength of our continuous development of customised products in the aftermarket area".
The Alfa Laval evaporation system is among the most energy efficient available, and its design requires less steam to be fed to the system compared with traditional shell-and-tube technology.
In this case it means that about 8% less steam is required which translates to an annual saving of about SEK1.5 million, for Pioneer Americas.
The order value is approximately SEK 65 million, including a ten year maintenance agreement.
Delivery will take place during 2008.
