Alfa Laval announces technical apprenticeship plan

An Alfa Laval product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jul 2, 2009

Alfa Laval has announced the launch of a new technical apprenticeship scheme in autumn 2009 at its engineering workshops in Camberley, Surrey.

In conjunction with the Farnborough College of Technology, Alfa Laval will be offering a traditional-style technical apprenticeship, which involves four days practical work in its Camberley engineering workshops and day release at the nearby Farnborough College of Technology to cover more academic aspects.

The two apprentices will be recruited via the Training Enterprise scheme at Farnborough College of Technology.

After the initial two-year programme, the candidates will be expected to have achieved an NVQ Level Two in Performing Engineering Operations and a BTEC First Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering.

They will then have the opportunity of moving up to an advanced apprenticeship for a further two years.

The eventual goal is for them to become fully skilled machinists.
