Latching setpoint relays are now available on the panel mount temperature monitors available from Amalgamated Instrument Co, to require explicit intervention by an operator.

Latching setpoint relays are now available on the panel mount temperature monitors available from Amalgamated Instrument Co The latching function prevents a process recommencing once a fault is removed without explicit intervention by an operator

An example is a heating application.

The temperature may rise to a dangerous level such that a setpoint relay will operate and cut power.

It is important that the cause of the failure be investigated and rectified before power is restored.

Non latching relays will reset as soon as the temperature drops.

Relays set to "latch" will require operator intervention to reset the relay once the alarm condition has ceased.

Panel mount monitors with the relay latching feature include.

1) PM4-RT8 multi channel RTD temperature monitor.

Up to 4 channels of 3-wire RTD or 8-channels of 2-wire RTD sensors can be installed.

Up to 4 setpoint relays can be installed (1 is standard) and these can be individually configured as latching or non-latching.

2) PM4-TCR single channel universal temperature monitor.

This accepts RTD, thermocouple or 4-20mA input.

Up to 7 setpoint relays can be installed (1 is standard).

Again, these relays can be individually configured as latching or non-latching.

All the relay functions are easily configured by the user and no special test or set-up equipment is required.

3) The PM4-RT8 and PM4-TCR are available with a wide range of displays.

The very popular 5 digit display features four alarm annunciator LEDs that will give information about the condition of relays 1-4.

For example: On 80% off 20% - Latched relay in alarm condition: On 20% off 80% - Input out of alarm condition but relay is not reset: On solid - Input in alarm condition, relay is activated and acknowledged manually: LED off - Input out of alarm condition and reset or acknowledged: Relay is de-activated.
