Vertical sump pumps for Abu Dhabi Gasco
Amarinth, working with its Middle East agent Nama Development Enterprises, has once again secured a significant order for its API610 VS4 vertical sump pumps
The pump design had to meet very strict criteria and a specific performance curve laid down by the customer.
The vessels in which the pumps will operate are coated with exotic materials and so for cost reasons the pump had to be designed to fit into the smallest space possible.
Also additional termination points on the support plate were required to cater for other services in and out of the tank.
To withstand the harsh environment the pumps had to be manufactured from special hard exotic alloys.
These are rare, difficult to procure and challenging to machine.
Being critical to the start-up of the plant, the pumps have to be delivered and tested in less than 40 weeks otherwise the operator would incur significant losses, for any days that commissioning was delayed.
A standard pump was not an option and although a number of manufacturers looked at the requirements none could meet the technical requirements or the lead times demanded by the customer.
Only Amarinth were able to satisfy both the design criteria and the lead time.
This was achieved by delivering a bespoke version of one of proven V series sump pump designs.
Nama will be supporting these products in the region, overseeing the commissioning and installation as well as providing first level technical support.
Oliver Brigginshaw, Managing Director of Amarinth, added: "We are delighted to announce our agreement with Nama and this USD3.5M order, our largest to date.
Work has progressed smoothly despite a number of mid contract changes and we are now in discussion and bidding for additional pumps for the same site.
This will become a significant reference site in the region allowing future customers to understand our products and capabilities, particularly for these type of arduous conditions, as well as the support Amarinth and Nama can deliver".
