AMOT actuated valve fitted to chillers
on RN ships

AMOT GEF valves with CompACT actuators are being installed as part of the chiller units on six new Royal Navy vessels, to control the diversion of seawater from the ships' process plants to waste

AMOT GEF valves with CompACT actuators are being installed as part of the chiller units on six new Royal Navy vessels, diverting seawater from the ships' process plants to waste once the plant has reached its optimum operating temperature This action of returning water to the sea is achieved by an internal rotor opening and closing the valve internal ports

The 110V ac actuator is fitted with a positive 4-20mA control positioner and internal potentiometer.

The chillers are being produced by air handling company York Refrigeration and the vessels are being built by BAE Systems.

The cost of a custom design was avoided by being able to use standard valves combined with a York/AMOT labelling solution.

GEF valves were chosen because they provided a technical improvement over the products previously used for similar applications, with tighter temperature control, as well giving a commercial benefit due to the worldwide contract and agreements AMOT has in place with York.

Each ship has four process plants with their own actuated valves, making a total of 24 units.

The valves form an integral part of the complete pipework assembly, so that installation is a simple operation of fitting the flanges and tightening bolts. Request a free brochure from AMOT ...
