New integrating, recording, chlorine transmitter

An Analytical Technology product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jun 7, 2007

Analytical Technology has introduced its B20 Recording Chlorine Transmitter for residual chlorine monitoring, where both measurement, and circular chart recordings are required

The system combines both a free or chloramine analyser inside a circular chart recorder to provide either 24 hour or seven day recording of chlorine residuals.

The transmitter can be used in a wide range of applications, including the treatment of potable water and the treatment of process water in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Chloramine treatment is used in many UK water networks as they are a longer-lasting, although less effective, form of disinfectant than chlorine.

The level of residual chlorine in water is an indication of the effectiveness of the disinfection process, and by maintaining a small level of residual chlorine in the water it is possible to ensure a clean supply.

Providing permanent chlorine residual records normally means purchasing a residual chlorine monitor and connecting the output of the monitor to a separate recorder.

The ATi B20 provides an integrated solution to this problem, combining both the analyser and recorder functions in a single package.

This results in simpler installations, easier operation and lower cost.

In addition the system uses the ATi direct measuring membrane sensor for reliable measurement with minimal maintenance.

The sensor is a direct measuring polarographic membraned sensor that eliminates the need for chemical buffers and other reagents.

Sensors are available for free chlorine measurements or for combined chlorine monitoring where chloramine treatment is in use.

Chlorine sensors require a constant sample flow past the membrane to provide stable and accurate readings.

B20 systems are supplied with a constant-head flowcell assembly that automatically maintains the desired flow.
