Limerick
Automation Research Centre based at the University of Limerick, Ireland, is now registered as a certified PLCOpen training centre for all its PLC courses
Automation Research Centre based at the University of Limerick, Ireland, is now registered as a certified PLCOpen training centre for all its PLC courses As from 1st January 2006 all the PLC courses offered by ARC will comply to PLCOpen training requirements and cover all aspects of IEC 611131-3 standard, including the models, common elements, textual and graphical languages

Report on Limerick automation seminar
Over 70 delegates from vendors, end users, systems integrators and academia attended the 2005 Irish automation seminar held in Dublin on 7 September, hosted by the University of Limerick
Concepts such as software, communications and programming models are explained at the start of the course.
Additionally the common elements that are provided in any of the IEC 61131-3 compatible programming environments are introduced.
These include elements such as organisational blocks, functions and function blocks.
Textual programming languages such as Instruction List (IL), Structured Text (ST) and graphical languages such as Ladder Diagram (LD), and Function Block Diagram (FBD) are introduced to the participants.
The main part of the course is based on practical approach to development of full applications.
On the completion of the course, participants will be able to develop control programmes for basic applications.
All the courses are 60% subsidised by FAS the Irish training and employment authority for 2006.
