Alpha Wire launches a new, intuitive online cable selection resource for XtraGuard extreme performance cables, allowing cable selection with interactive guides and cable construction animation

Alpha Wire launches a new, intuitive on-line cable selection resource for XtraGuard extreme performance cables that allows accurate cable selection with interactive guides and cable construction animation sequences The leading supplier of advanced solutions and service in wire, cable and tubing, Alpha Wire International, has announced the launch of a new website dedicated solely to its range of hazard-matched cables, XtraGuard, that provide extreme performance for extreme environments

The new website represents an industry first for a website dedicated solely to a single brand of cable.

The site offers an intuitive selection aid to help engineers correctly specify cable for the extreme environment of their application.

Visitors to the site looking to correctly match cable properties to their hostile environment are able to use a fully interactive area called the XtraGuard 'SeleXion Guide'.

In this area users are able to enter environmental parameter requirements, in terms of operating temperatures, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, flex requirements and so on.

Eight graphical icons represent the various extreme environments and according to the values entered by the user, the selection guide recommends the exact XtraGuard cable type that matches the application hostile environment.

Depending on the level of resistance required to Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electrostatic Discharge Interference (ESD), the on-line guide also recommends the appropriate level of shielding.

This includes the Alpha Wire proprietary shielding system, called Suprashield, which provides the ultimate protection in applications facing extreme Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) interference.

Another unique attribute comes in the form of a series of flash-animation sequences that detail XtraGuard cable constructions and continue the use of graphical user interfaces designed to make the website extremely easy to use for anyone that may be unfamiliar with the XtraGuard range.

The website also caters to users who are more familiar with the product line by offering an intuitive part number search facility linking directly to the most current specification sheets.

Sandy Jaouen, Marketing and E-business Manager for Alpha Wire, summed up the new website by saying: "The XtraGuard website represents a significant breakthrough in regard to cable specification.

To my knowledge it is the only website in the industry dedicated solely to a single product line and its construction closely follows the selection habits of cable specifiers.

The design and navigation makes this website very easy to use for both existing and new customers alike.

We feel that the XtraGuard line sets the benchmark in terms of extreme performance cabling for extreme environments and it is fitting that this is demonstrated through this unique website.

I am delighted that initial feedback has been extremely positive".

The XtraGuard line of cable delivers extreme performance and system reliability in the world's most extreme environments, including heat; cold; abrasion; flexing; immersion in oils, chemicals, solvents and fuels; UV exposure, EMI/RFI interference; and direct burial.

Hazard-matched and designed specifically to survive in the most hostile operating environments, XtraGuard cables are the perfect solution for use in demanding applications in industries as diverse as petrochemical, mining, power generation, medical, military, foundries, robotics, food and beverage, water and waste water, and security.

Harry Quinn, European sales manager for Alpha Wire added: "The XtraGuard website reflects the way engineers select cable.

Selecting the correct cable for a critical application is essential to overall system reliability, performance and safety.

It's also crucial that this selection is made the first time to avoid cable failure, which can be very costly in terms of production levels, profits and a company's reputation".
