A new range of Astra-Plus balancing valves have been introduced by the fluid control specialists ARI Armaturen UK .
These bellows-sealed valves feature metal-to-metal seating, eliminating the potential of setting errors, however small, which can result from soft seat compressibility.
This, combined with precise setting and accurate re-setting capabilities ensure that these products are suitable for arduous process applications including high temperature water and thermal fluid systems.
These high performance valves are manufactured in modular iron (CGG-40.3), and can be supplied in nominal sizes from DN 15 to DN 400 diameters.
They combine economy with performance and reliability, with products below DN 200 incorporating digital positional displays.
Larger valves have mechanical position indicators.
A gland packed spindle seal is used on the DN 250 and larger valves, together with a V-port plug design which can tolerate in excess of 2 bar differential pressure.
Maximum process fluid temperatures of up to 175C can be accommodated as standard, with an upper limit of 350C being possible on products to special order.
Accurate and consistent balancing of the process fluid is achieved with the Astra-Plus via fine flow adjustment provided by precise valve positioning.
This is possible because the valves have an equal percentage characteristic, spreading the effective operating range over virtually the whole length of travel.
Accurate positioning of the valve for a particular flow rate/pressure drop is much easier, while the precision setting ensures that valves can be repeatedly re-set to exactly the same point.
This facility for precise, economical system regulation and balancing results in optimum plant operating performance.
Flange tappings are also provided to facilitate measurement using instruments.
These valves meet the technical requirements of appropriate DIN specifications, and care has been taken to ensure that the design is compatible with effective insulation, minimising installation time and showing long-term savings on energy conservation.
The company are also able to supply a wide range of fluid control equipment including butterfly, stop, safety, control and check valves, together with strainers and actuators.
With approximately 10,000 products available in over 100,000 variants, they provide a 'one-stop-shop' facility for process applications.
