Arco, the UK's leading supplier of safety equipment and workwear, has appointed Chris Girling as both Non Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee
Chris brings to the role extensive experience gained through an international career in financial and general management of companies such as the VT Group, Unipart and Ernst and Young Chris was also formerly Finance Director of Carillion (previously known as Tarmac)

Alongside his Non Executive role in Arco, Chris is also a Non Executive Director of the speciality chemicals business, Elementis and is Chairman of the Slaughter and May pension fund.
In December 2007, after almost 30 years, John Martin will step down from his current position of Non Executive Director.
John joined Arco in April 1978, became Main Board Finance Director in 1982 and was Joint Managing Director between 1996 and 2003.
Since his retirement as an Executive Director he has continued to provide invaluable support and advice to the Board of Arco in his role of Non Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee.
