Pusnes mooring equipment for Gjoa
platform

Aker Kvaerner has been awarded a contract for delivery of mooring winches and fairleads for the Statoil Gjoa semisubmersible platform in the North Sea

The total contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately NOK 90 million The work will be undertaken by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner Pusnes in Arendal

The contract involves supply of on-vessel mooring equipment for the Statoi Gjoa Semi to be installed at the Gjoa field in the North Sea.

The equipment, Roller Ram Winches and Fairleads for chain are to be delivered and installed at Aker Kvaerner Stord.

Sixteen Roller RamWinches and sixteen underwater fairleads will be used to pull in and secure 150mm chains used in the mooring lines.

The equipment is based on the Aker Kvaerner Pusnes major experience in design and manufacturing of winches and fairleads for such kind of platforms.

Integrated safety features play a significant role in equipment of this type.

These features include alarm systems, load monitoring, intelligent sensors and emergency stop.

The equipment will be manufactured in Europe, with delivery between January and August 2008.
