The BrainWave is a revolution in water temperature control and delivery technology, as the first fully electronic, hands-free electronic mixing valve, ideal for hospitals, schools etc

Armstrong International, a world leader in intelligent system solutions for steam, air and hot water utility applications, announces the launch of the BrainWave, the first fully electronic, hands-free electronic mixing valve "The BrainWave is a revolution in water temperature control and delivery technology," said Paul Knight, director of sales and marketing for the Armstrong Hot Water Group

BrainWave brings programmable flow and temperature control directly to the point of use.

It is ideal for hospitals, nursing homes, hotels and schools where bathing, showering and hand washing are common, and where the need to reduce the spread of bacteria and protect against accidental scalding is a priority.

"Dead legs" and other areas of a water piping system where stagnant water resides are ideal amplification pockets for growth of water-borne bacteria such as Legionella.

"The key to reducing risks associated with Legionella and other diseases is to deliver the selected treatment up to and then right through each point of use," Knight said.

BrainWave provides a programmable "service flush" to evacuate water from infrequently used fixtures and the pipe work upstream, with the added feature of a secured-access capability to individually flush each fixture with high-temperature water during system pasteurisation.

The BrainWave can be programmed to achieve the disinfection and storage temperature guidelines set by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other agencies for Legionella control, while reducing the final water temperature to no more than 110F to prevent scalding.

In addition, its sleek, hands-free design makes the BrainWave an ideal solution to reduce the spread of bacteria and to enhance the contemporary design of today's building environments.
