Dect wireless technologies make it possible to reduce reaction times to incidents across a plant: they also provide a truly integrated, multi-functional, communication and staff protection platform

On-Site Wireless Solutions Communicate with People and Processes The length of time taken to respond either to human or mechanical incidents across any plant has a significant impact on overall efficiency and profitability

New Dect based wireless technologies now make it possible to considerably reduce reaction times: they also have the added benefit of providing a truly integrated, multi-functional, communication and staff protection platform.

Ascom Wireless Solutions was one of the first communication network providers to see the opportunity of developing convergent systems that can operate within a single Dect framework.

Gone are the days for example, when a computer LAN or WAN network or a telephone or paging system, need be seen as separate communication entities.

Ascom have developed a number of soft and hardware solutions that enable direct links between any type of platform.

This is particularly useful where Ascom Wireless Solution products are being used to remotely monitor maintenance or alarm conditions for all sorts of third party machinery and control equipment; anything from process machinery and air conditioning plants, to CCTV, or Access Points.

Handset carriers receive an automatic alert or detailed text message about the functioning of the monitored equipment and by transmitting a pre-programmed signal, activate a control on the equipment in real-time.

This can significantly increase efficiency.

Maintenance staff for example can 'see' what is happening in their total environment and instantly trigger a response to a specific situation, without the need to physically attend the equipment location.

With the range of interface technologies now available, it is also possible to integrate teleDect into existing process management systems to allow quicker decision making.

Critical process values can be monitored and recorded for future analysis; down time can be reduced; raw material flow optimised; tighter quality control achieved, all saving time and money.

Using teleDect as the pathway for controlling equipment allows that information to be shared quickly and accurately among the relevant people in the workforce.

They can use all the teleDect functionality of text, data and speech communication; group and conference calling; alarm and location; to achieve a more rapid and focussed response to any event.

The Ascom Dect systems combine on-site, text, data and speech messaging facilities, with the full functionality of a cordless mobile phone; in fact in many cases it can replace a conventionally hard wired system.

They can also co-communicate with different types of paging, speech and alarm units and link via the onsite PABX to the public phone system and function as a full specification lone worker personal alarm.

Whatever type of operation; manufacturing or commercial; continuous processing or warehousing, better and safer organisation of the working environment can be achieved using teleDect.
