Aspectrics, the innovator of Encoded Photometric Infrared Spectroscopy analysers, demonstrates their commitment to innovation with the appointment of a new Chief Technology Officer

Aspectrics, the innovator of Encoded Photometric Infrared Spectroscopy (EP-IR) analysers, has announced the appointment of a new Chief Technology Officer, Robert G Messerschmidt Bob will be based at the Aspectrics North American headquarters in Pleasanton, California and will work with both established and new team members to continue to develop the Aspectrics award-winning EP-IR technology as well as its future technological advances

Bob brings to Aspectrics over 25 years of experience in the field of spectroscopy instrumentation, having previously held senior management positions, including vice president of Fovioptics and technical director at Spectra-Tech, and most recently president of a leading consultancy and instrument design firm specialising in spectroscopy and optics.

He was previously co-founder and vice president of InLight Solutions, a medical instrumentation company dedicated to developing non-invasive medical applications of infrared spectroscopy.

While at InLight Solutions, Bob's responsibilities included direct management of optical and mechanical aspects of research and development.

Bob designed and developed the first commercial FT-IR microscope, the IRMA (1982-1984) which helped to create a market for FT-IR microscopes now estimated to be worth US$30 million per year.

In 1996, Bob was awarded the Williams-Wright Award for outstanding contributions to the field of industrial infrared spectroscopy.

He also holds a position on the editorial advisory board for Spectroscopy Magazine and is currently the President of the Coblentz Society which aims to foster the understanding and application of vibrational spectroscopy.

Paul H Salsgiver, CEO at Aspectrics commented, "We are extremely pleased to welcome Bob to our highly experienced and friendly team.

Combining extensive technical experience with a proven track record of managerial accomplishments, Bob's expertise will benefit our customers and partners significantly, contributing to the development of our revolutionary EP-IR technology".
