Torques of 30 Nm are available with the ultra-high torque stepper motors from Astrosyn International Technology: these rugged motors produce up to twice the bipolar holding torque of comparable models

Torques as high as 30 Nm are available with the new ultra-high torque stepper motor range from Astrosyn International Technology Available in size 34 and 42 versions, the rugged hybrid motors can produce up to twice the bipolar holding torque of comparable models

This substantial increase in power with the 1.8 degree stepping angle motors is achieved through two features: extended length rotor stacks and the use of novel rare earth materials for the rotor magnets.

"The extra torque will be invaluable in industrial applications where high performance is required," said Simon Hunt, technical sales director at Astrosyn.

"We expect applications in the packaging and labelling sectors in particular, and we are already trialling an application with an industrial sewing machine".

The NEMA 34 motors are available with bipolar holding torques of 4.5, 8.5 and 12.5 Nm, while the NEMA 42 models are rated at 11.5, 22.0 and 30.0 Nm.
