Astrosyn International Technology have introduced a digitally controlled stepper motor driver with an integrated 70V power supply

Astrosyn International Technology have introduced a digitally controlled stepper motor driver with an integrated 70V power supply.

The Ever SDLWT180 is a bipolar chopper unit controlled by a new generation digital signal processor.

"Having an in-built power supply saves companies the task of sourcing a suitable high voltage dc supply, which can be hard to find," commented Simon Hunt, Astrosyn technical sales director.

"Also, being CE marked as a single unit simplifies CE certification".

The step and direction driver provides a microstepping output of up to 5A, with its status displayed on a seven segment LED.

All the digital inputs and outputs are optically isolated, and DIP switches allow functions to be set by the user.

The unit can drive a motor in open velocity and position loops, according to internal or external acceleration and deceleration ramps, while monitoring in real time the critical working parameters such as temperature rise, voltages and currents.

The driver is suitable for relatively heavy duty applications such as for stepper motors in machine tools, packaging equipment and general machinery.
