Record breaking electric car to go the distance
ABB has found a novel way to put its drives and motors to the ultimate test by providing the main drive system for the British challenger to to the world electric land speed record
The motors combine high voltage technology with components normally used for low voltage motors, such as rotors and cast iron frames.
A simple ordering process is helped by the easy selection and dimensioning, with all the technical data found in one catalogue.
The existing ABB low voltage dimensioning program can also be used for the high voltage motor.
Designed for any pump, fan or compressor application, the high voltage standard motor features high efficiency, excellent starting characteristics, extremely low noise levels, low vibration, IP55 protection, reliable bearings and windings, long maintenance intervals and a long lifetime.
The motor has an IP55 rib cooled cast iron frame, and operates at 36.6kV, with ratings of 110 to 530kW at 50Hz and with two to 12 pole designs.
It also offers high safety standards, with non-sparking and dust ignition proof designs for Zone 22 and protection classes IP55 and IP65 being available as an option.
