Data for over 500 motors now available online
Motor performance curves, data sheets and drawings for low voltage AC motors, from 0.055 to 710 kW, are now available from the ABB website: data for more than 500 motors to be downloaded or viewed
"The features packed into every single motor in this range historically would require three separate motors to comply with local or national standards," notes Steve Ruddell, general manager, drives and motors.
"Those individual features and components and specifications now are combined and packaged in one, single, universally safe and efficient motor.
It's a quantum leap for OEMs and processors everyone who buys and uses motors".
Designed to meet, and often exceed, all mandatory requirements, the Global Motor simplifies the purchasing process and allows companies to standardise their motor purchases.
In addition, when moving equipment from one country to another, the old problem of having to buy new motors is eliminated.
"Manufacturers no longer have to worry about specifying IEC motors, depending on whether they are for use in the United States or elsewhere around the world," Ruddell adds.
"One product now carries a full package of certifications, simplifying the selection and standardization processes for ABB customers".
The Global Motor converges IEC CENELEC power and frame size standards; and it is multi-labelled to meet UR (Underwriters Laboratories Recognised Component), EPAct (US federal efficiency requirements), CE (European Union safety directives), EFF1 (European Commission's Highest Efficiency Value), CSA (Canadian safety standards), and EEV (CSA Energy Efficiency Verification).
The new motor offering covers aluminium IEC frame motors from fractional through to 75kW and it is rated for use on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz systems, with voltage ratings covering the world.
In addition, by meeting and exceeding all IEC efficiency standards, these motors further reduce energy consumption and greatly minimize lifetime cost.
"With ABB high efficiency designs and low operating temperature, these motors are built to ensure longevity and life-long, trouble-free operation, wherever in the world they are installed," says Steve Ruddell.
The motors are readily available from any of the ABB central stock locations in Europe, Asia and America.
A free catalogue is available from ABB sales offices.
