Petrobras (Petroleo Brasileiro SA) and Axens finalised license agreements for ten Prime-G+ units to be installed in eight refineries: part of the Petrobras gasoline-pool sulphur reduction investments

Petrobras (Petroleo Brasileiro SA) and Axens have finalised license agreements for ten Prime-G+ units to be installed in eight refineries: Cubatao, Duque de Caxias, Araucaria, Betim, Porto Alegre, Paulinia, Sao Jose dos Campos and Salvador de Bahia.

The units are part of Petrobras gasoline-pool sulphur reduction investments and will desulphurise a combined annual gasoline volume of 295,630 barrels per day representing over 10% of the current cumulative Prime-G+ licensed capacity.

The projects were officially launched by a ceremony hosted at the Petrobras Headquarters in Rio de Janeiro on February 1st 2005 in the presence of Paolo Roberto Costa, Petrobras Downstream Director and Jean Sentenac, Axens Chairman and CEO.

Axens has been awarded Prime-G+ licenses amounting to over 2.7 million bpsd.

Prime-G+ designs differ depending on feedstocks, site-specific constraints and refinery objectives.

Prime-G+ was the only refinery technology among the five finalists of the prestigious Kirkpatrick Honor Award for Chemical Engineering Achievement in 2003.

Petrobras Petrobras (Petroleo Brasileiro SA), the Brazilian state oil company, is an integrated corporation whose businesses include exploration, production, refining, retailing and transportation of oil and byproducts, natural gas, fertilisers and petrochemicals.
