Shenhua orders simulator for coal liquefaction
Axens Performance Programmes have been selected by Shenhua Coal Liquefaction Company in China to provide an operator training simulator for direct coal liquefaction and H-OilDC units
Axens Performance Programmes have been selected by Shenhua Coal Liquefaction Company in China to provide an operator training simulator (OTS) for direct coal liquefaction and H-OilDC units being constructed in the Peoples Republic of China.
These simulators will be used for the training of plant personnel and will play an important role in the start-up of the plant.
The Axens customised OTS solution is based on rigorous kinetic models of the units and uses INDISS software supplied by RSI.
The project will be managed through the Axens P2 office in Houston, Texas.
This is a first-of-a-kind direct coal liquefaction plant and will produce 19000 barrels per day of oil from coal in a single train.
The H-OilDC technology is designed to hydrotreat 10,400 metric tons per day of recycle liquid and products from the direct coal liquefaction unit.
The combination of direct coal liquefaction and H-OilDC is well adapted to handle small amounts of coal particles and maintain constant product quality.
There are three commercial versions of the H-Oil technology: DC - VGO or distillate conversion, RC - heavy oil or resid conversion, HCC - heavy crude conversion to syncrude.
Shenhua is China's largest coal company with production capacity approaching 122 million tons per year.
This first-of-its-kind direct coal liquefaction plant will produce 19,000 barrels per day of oil from coal in a single train.
Additional processing trains are planned for future.
RSI, an IFP Group company, has been providing dynamic simulation solutions since 1980 in the upstream and downstream oil and gas industries and for petrochemical and chemical applications.
RSI simulators are employed for engineering studies, operational support and operator training.
Axens is an international provider of technologies, catalysts and services to the hydrocarbon industries, created in 2001 through the merger of the IFP Technology Licensing and Service Division and Procatalyse.
The Axens offer is based on highly trained human resources, continuous R and D investments, modern production facilities and an extensive commercial database.
