Magnetically driven self-cleaning filter
launched
Available from Axflow Limited, the MCF is a unique filter that employs magnetically coupled drive technology to move the self-cleaning disc, eliminating the need for shaft or external drive seals
Self-cleaning filtration technology has been advanced with the introduction of a magnetically driven system developed by RPA Processing Technologies Available in the UK through Axflow Limited, the MCF is a unique filter that employs magnetically coupled drive technology to move the self-cleaning disc, thereby eliminating the need for shaft or external drive seals

The advantages of self-cleaning disc filters
With shrinking budgets and labour forces plus increased production, mechanically cleaned filtration such as the Ronningen-Petter MCF and DCF filters offer a tremendous advantage over replaceable media
With leakage potential removed and fewer moving parts, operating integrity is ensured and maintenance simplified.
"The MCF is a major advancement in disc clean filter technology," comments Axflow managing director Tony Peters.
"Clearly, the elimination of the lid/actuator seal is the major feature and this will open up many more application opportunities.

In addition, the use of a four piece cleaning disc will contribute to improved efficiency, whilst the flow enhanced purge chamber ensures that both liquid and contaminants are completely removed".
RPA Process Technologies has developed the MCF for processing applications where highly viscous, sticky and fast-drying liquids are involved.
Unlike other self-cleaning filters, which have motors and actuators mounted on the lids making them bulky and heavy, the MCF lid is unencumbered.
This feature makes the unit easy to open and allows fast screen change-out, this being a highly valued facility where batch processing is involved.
How does it work? With the MCF, the filtrate flows from the top down and from inside of the media towards the outside in order to increase retention of contaminants on the screen.
A spring-loaded cleaning disc travelling downwards inside the filter media, removes the contaminants that have been collected.
The cleaning disc and flow continually drive all undesirable solids downwards, where they are concentrated in the purging chamber for easy expulsion.
A hollow shaft at the centre of the system contains a piston fitted with powerful rare earth magnets.
These internal magnets are coupled to external magnets housed in a carrier connected to the cleaning disc.
Pneumatic action moves the internal magnets up and down the shaft, with the cleaning disc following behind.
The result is a powerful actuation that does not require a physical linkage passing through the vessel.
"The elements that contribute to success of the self-cleaning filter are its constant low differential pressure that gives a constant high quality product, low purge quantity with only the waste being removed and high throughput", says Tony Peters. Request a free brochure from AxFlow ...
"Further more, as there are no bags/cartridges to be disposed of and the system can run operator-free, financial savings can also be generated.".
