Magnetically driven self-cleaning filter launched
Available from Axflow Limited, the MCF is a unique filter that employs magnetically coupled drive technology to move the self-cleaning disc, eliminating the need for shaft or external drive seals
Certified for duties in explosive environments in accordance with directive 94/9/EG, the NEWX contains an impeller and casing that are manufactured from a cast material known as Wernit, and features two separate radial zones.
The first inner zone operates in the same way as a conventional centrifugal impeller, with the slurry being sucked into the impeller blades and forced outward.
The second outer zone takes the form of an annular gap inside which the slurry particles are milled by the turbulent impact as they come into contact with each other and the rough surface of the impeller and casing.
The key to the grinding capability is the use of sharp-edged particles of silicon carbide which are contained in the Wernit material and which form a nearly insuperable barrier to abrasive wear.
Commenting on the introduction of the Wernert NEWX, AxFlow product manager Cliff Warne commented: "This ATEX compliant pump has already shown its potential with producers of pigments and lacquers.
When used on titanium dioxide slurry, the pump reduced the particle size from 40microns down to 2microns".
Duties for which the NEWX may be used are where a flow rate of between 2 and 15m3/h is required, with a maximum differential head of up to 7m and where temperatures do not exceed 125C.
Sealing is provided by a Wernert bellows-type mechanical seal with quench. Request a free brochure from AxFlow ...
