A new hygienic lobe pump from Blackmer

An AxFlow product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jul 25, 2007

Axflow has extended its hygienic pump capability with the addition of the Blackmer BLK Hy-clean rotary lobe pump series compliant with EHEDG, FDA and 3A

Available in five sizes, Blackmer has designed this new pump primarily for the food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals industries where a low shear force is required and liquids containing solids in suspension are encountered.

AxFlow reports that the BLK Hy-clean can be easily integrated into existing production lines as it has a modular design (vertical porting) and compact size.

Furthermore it is suitable for both CIP and SIP cleaning regimes, whilst maintenance can be performed in-place without the need to dismantle piping.

"The Blackmer BLK-Hy-clean features the Tri Lobe rotor, which is easy to mount and can be accurately positioned without there being any risk of mechanical error," comments Dave Hutton, AxFlow Blackmer product manager.

"The employment of front loaded mechanical seals, which are wetted to enable dry operation, are a major contribution to the pump ease of maintenance".

The five models within the range offer reversible suction and discharge and can accommodate applications for flow rates between 1.8 and 115.8 m/h and pressures up to 12 bar.

"Our Blackmer Mouvex pumps are well established in the food, pharmaceuticals and personnel products industries," says Dave Hutton "and the introduction of a hygienic lobe pump will open new opportunities particularly where transferring, filling and emptying both high and low viscosity liquids can benefit from a pump providing excellent volumetric efficiency".
