With three multi-axis choices providing a range of servo and stepper motor control in packaged or PCB forms, the new family allows OEMs to select optimal solutions for a variety of application requirements.
The members of the product family are: NextMove-ESB, a packaged controller offering three servo and four stepper control axes; NextMove-ES, a single-Eurocard with two servo and four stepper control axes; and NextMove-ST, an intelligent three-axis drive for stepper motors.
All three options include built in I/O and CAN fieldbus interfacing.
This provides a platform for machine control tasks as well, eliminating the need for a separate PLC in many situations.
The controllers are programmable using the popular motion language Mint, in its latest form with a free multi-tasking executive.
Optionally, they may be programmed in C using a Mint-compatible library of functions for motion, I/O, communications, and operator interfaces - or controlled from high-level application software such as Visual Basic by means of ActiveX calls.
Additionally, Baldor is porting its MintNC software to its USB-compatible motion controllers.
MintNC is a PC-based library that supports the import of data in industry-standard CAD formats including DXF, HPGL and G-Code, and generates the required real-time motion commands.
