The holding company and headquarters, previously located in the Netherlands and Switzerland, respectively, are now incorporated in the new company.
Benefits gained by concentrating business in the Ludwigshafen location are the synergies and an increase in effectiveness.
So the entire management team will be located in the Ludwigshafen offices.
"All the important decisions will be made in one location, irrespective of whether it is the creation of offers or invoices, questions regarding personnel or the operations - those responsible are all located near to each other," said Wolfgang Erny, speaking on behalf of the Board of BASF IT Services, during the opening celebrations.
"I am convinced that in the future, we will pull even harder together than before and as a consequence, give BASF IT Services a new boost".
Ludwigshafen is the largest location belonging to BASF IT Services.
Some 1700 of the 2400 staff members are employed there.
This makes BASF IT Services one of the largest employers in the IT sector in Rheinland-Pfalz.
When it was founded in 2001, BASF IT Services was created by the fusion of more than 50 individual IT units, which until then, had rendered its services only locally.
Today, BASF IT Services steers highly complex processes beyond borders and locations and also serves customers outside of Europe, for example, in the Far East.
Since its foundation, the company has established business relations with a growing number of customers, also outside of the BASF Group.
Through the first acquisition in its history, the company has expanded its portfolio and list of customers.
At the change of the year 2005/2006, BASF IT Services acquired the Hamburg consulting company plan business, with approximatively 140 employees.
