BASF IT Services and Atrion International have signed an agreement with a new customer, the Spanish energy company CEPSA

BASF IT Services and Atrion International have signed an agreement with a new customer, the Spanish energy company CEPSA Together with its partner Atrion International, BASF IT Services will implement a new system by which CEPSA is able to manage its global hazard communication process in compliance with the prevailing national regulations, thus reducing the cost of global compliance

In addition to the implementation of the system, the providers deliver the entire content (rules, phrases, (material) safety data sheets forms (M)SDS, chemical data etc) as well as the corresponding software licenses, plus on-going maintenance and support of the system.

The rule based solution, to be integrated with SAP, will bring CEPSA in compliance "out of the box" with Europe, North and South American and Asia Pacific regulations for classification and labelling, as well as authoring, distribution of (M)SDS, workplace safety cards, tremcards and other product driven documents.

The new compliance solution replaces a multitude of individual system solutions for CEPSA worldwide.

All employees within CEPSA will now have access to the same system, and are able to provide their customer consistent, high quality information in more than 34 languages.

The compliance solution contains all the important properties on each product produced by the company.

Consequently, (material) safety data sheets - (M)SDS - can be created, describing each products ingredients as well as guidelines on how to handle dangerous goods safely.

CEPSA has a diversified portfolio in the energy sector and engages in activities relating to crude oil and petrochemicals, including oil and gas exploration and production, refining, marketing of oil derivatives and basic chemicals, and the manufacturing of petrochemicals, and has growing interest in natural gas and electricity.

The company has a notable presence in Spain and is progressively internationalising its activities in Algeria, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, Panama and Portugal, marketing its products throughout the world.

The new system simplifies the management of complex regulatory requirements for the Environment, Protection, Safety and Quality department (PA.S.CAL) significantly.

"Atrion and BASF IT Services enjoy a business partnership.

Atrion's solutions and know-how really complement our expertise, which we have gained from many years of working in the EHS sector.

Thus, we are able to offer our customers customized solutions," says Wolfgang Erny, speaking on behalf of the Board of BASF IT Services.

"CEPSA is a valuable addition to our list of global clients," said Patrick Lavoie, CEO and President of Atrion.

"The agreement provides CEPSA with an opportunity to participate in our Expert Network and work with other Atrion customers to exchange knowledge and gain additional insights into how regulatory compliance systems and the application of Best Practice can benefit their business.

With CEPSA as our client, we will have a great reference in the Spanish market that will help us to grow our business.".
