Polaris - the new Bartec panel PC generation with wireless communication - has been approved for applications in Ex areas, for zones 1 + 2 as well as 21 + 22: see this on the stand at OE 2007

Bartec goes wireless: and the main application areas for this new generation of panel PC are the chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries The small 5.7inch displays are perfectly suitable as "human machine interfaces" to control simple machines such as mixers, driers or fuel-filling stations

The medium-sized graphic displays with 10.4inch displays are ideal for the operation of more complex machines or simple systems such as reactors, centrifuges or ball mills.

By means of the 15 and 19 inch devices, also complex systems such as pharmaceutical ingredient production lines can be controlled and operated.

Here, Bartec can refer to several thousand installations with previous models.

The innovation embedded is that Bartec has gone wireless.

By means of an internal USB interface, wireless data exchange can be realised for the first time via wireless LAN or Bluetooth (optional).

All Polaris devices have been approved in accordance with ATEX II 2G EEx qe ib IIC T4 and for application in dustEx areas: ATEX II 2D tD A21 T80degC IP6X.

With this new device generation, Bartec has succeeded in transferring the comfort previously reserved to the non-Ex area to the Ex area.

A wide selection of wired configurable interfaces provides each and every periphery with a suitable connection, such as USB, RS422/485, Profibus DP, Ethernet 100baseT, as well as with an intrinsically safe hand scanner interface.

Conventional PLC protocols, e.g MPI, Modbus RTU, etc, are supported.

A further highlight, which also presents a new development, is an intrinsically safe USB stick for the transmission of the device configuration.

The separate RS 232 data interface as well as the wiring so far required in the Ex-area are no longer necessary.
