Beko provides replacements for old flanged filters

A Beko Technologies product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Aug 25, 2009

Beko Technologies has provided custom-made filters for the plant room of Imperial Tobacco in Nottingham, UK, to replace two ageing flanged filters.

The two 10in (25cm) flanged filters operating in the plant room were more than 15 years old and were suffering from corrosion.

However, replacing the filters with new standard items would have meant time-consuming pipework alteration and the associated shutdown of the compressed-air system.

The company required custom-made filters to fit precisely into the gap left by the old ones, which could be exchanged in one shift, minimising downtime.

Airchannel, the main onsite compressed-air contractor, was asked to come up with a solution, which was developed in conjunction with Beko Technologies via its special product division Beko Systems.

New filters were offered that accurately replicated the existing items, the overall width being especially crucial if they were to slot straight in without hassle.

The filters were installed in one shift by the Imperial Tobacco maintenance team, headed by John Arris.

According to Arris, the new filters came with adjustable legs to facilitate installation.
