BestPump recently supplied a total of thirteen metal-detecting magnetic traps to an Ireland-based manufacturer of baby milk formula

These extremely powerful magnetic separators are manufactured in the USA by a BestPump partner company, Cesco Magnetics Their wide range of magnets come in many different configurations including traps, grates, ducts, plates etc, and are suitable for liquids, slurries, fragile or chunky items, high pressure applications, micro lines and so on

Made from 316 stainless steel and available for up to 6 inch line sizes, the magnets fit into new or existing pipelines and trap unwanted ferrous and work-hardened stainless steels from processing lines.

They require no electricity, have no moving parts and are built-to-last.

Magnetic separators not only ensure contaminant-free product but also protect processing equipment by trapping metallic debris.

The baby formula manufacturer, a global market leader in its field, has installed Cesco Magnetic Traps in their plant, in two spray drying areas and all upstream processing and downstream packaging lines.

The Cesco Magnetic Traps (or 'MagTraps') were also installed in thirteen process lines as a means of isolating areas of the plant from being sources of contamination of metal particles in the formula.

The MagTraps will be instrumental in eliminating areas of the plant as sources of metal contamination - should it ever occur.

The thirteen, model 135, Cesco Mag Traps are installed in all eleven CIP supply circuits which eliminates them immediately as sources of possible contamination.

The two product process lines each have a MagTrap just before the product concentrate is sent to the spray dryers.

Again, this eliminates the wet process area as a possible source of metal contamination.

The company are looking at this installation carefully and will, in the future, consider installing further magnetic traps in other lines.

They expect that the time saved in tracing any source of metal contamination will be significant, thanks to the installation of the Cesco Magnetic Traps.
