BHR group looks forward to new pipeline papers
The BHR Conference on Water Pipeline Systems builds on the success of previous events to provide a forum for presenting practical solutions and debating the future direction of the pipeline industry
BHR Group issues a call for papers for its 5th International Water Pipeline Systems Conference.
Pipeline systems have been used for centuries as an efficient and cost-effective way of transporting water across long distances.
Water transportation remains an essential requirement for industrial and domestic consumption: ensuring continuance of supply becomes increasingly important as climate change begins to affect natural resources.
The water industry is often reliant upon the integrity of pipelines that are beyond their design life.
This places a burden on operators to optimise asset management, plan for timely rehabilitation and address leakage control and reliability.
Strategic requirements of international regulations and integrated networks override these factors and present additional challenges to the industry.
BHR Group's 5th International Conference on Water Pipeline Systems builds on the success of previous events to provide a forum for presenting practical solutions and debating the future direction of the pipeline industry.
By drawing together leading international experts and decision makers it provides a unique opportunity to access authoritative information about best practice and new techniques.
The organisers have issued a call for papers for presentation at the event, which will be held in Liverpool, UK, 22-24 November 2006.
The conference will focus on the key business, financial, technical and operational issues facing the water industry.
Its "whole pipe - whole life" approach will cover areas such as evaluation of best materials, protection, monitoring, inspection, detection, rehabilitation, maintenance, installation, planning and management that must be considered when long-term business and operational decisions are being made.
Papers accepted for presentation are likely to provide practical insight into the latest news, developments and application of water pipeline systems.
The organisers have identified three broad areas where papers will be particularly welcome: Business And Financial Drivers including asset management, regulation, demand management, competition and common carriage, materials selection, and pipe sizing versus pumping cost economics.
Operations including inspection, rehabilitation, insertion techniques, leakage and surges, construction methodology.
Strategy including risk assessment, quality modelling, intelligent pipes, volume water, supply mains, contractor versus utility.
The conference is aimed at everyone involved in the specification, design, installation and operation of water pipeline systems including owners, designers, financiers, suppliers, consultants, contractors and operators.
