A workshop designed to provide basic principles on welding and fabricating stainless steel, targeted at all those involved in fabrication, especially engineers and senior management, was held recently at Outokumpu Stainless in Sheffield.
The event, similar to the successful one organised last year, was completely sold out with more than 100 delegates attending.
Specialists from Outokumpu Stainless, TWI Limited and the British Stainless Steel Association [BSSA], outlined best welding practices and corrected some of the current misconceptions concerning fabricating with stainless steel.
Other topics in the workshop included highlighting fabrication differences between standard and high performance grades of stainless and outlining available technical support and development facilities.
The event was jointly sponsored by Outokumpu Stainless, TWI and the BSSA in association with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and the Association of Welding Distributors.
Nigel Ward, Director of the BSSA commented, "The turnout was tremendous and shows that there is a real demand for help and advice about all aspects of fabrication.
The feedback from delegates was very positive and we will undoubtedly run further seminars in the future.
Thanks must go to the expert presenters who really brought the subject to life.".
