Air coolers at the Mokai II power generation plant, now being built in Israel, will be powered by Brook Crompton motors, following the delivery of nearly 100 18.5 kW motors specifically for the task The plant is being built by Ormat, an Israeli-based turbine manufacturer which specialises in power generation and has 60 power plants in operation around the world
Brook Crompton was asked to tender for this latest order because of its previous track record of supplying motors to Ormat, and indeed many other power plant builders and operators.
For this order all the motors were 6-pole, EEx nA, Zone 2, Temperature Class T3.
The full technical specification was very complex: few motor suppliers could fully meet all the requirements and guarantee the levels of support required for such critical duty applications.
