Black and Veatch is at the heart of the Anglian Water Services GBP750M AMP4 programme, delivering up to GBP750M worth of projects alongside alliance contractors

Black and Veatch is at the heart of the Anglian Water Services GBP750M AMP4 programme.

Black and Veatch has been chosen to help deliver up to GBP750M worth of projects for Anglian Water Services (part of the AWG group) AMP4 programme.

Working closely with a group of consultants and contractors who will fully integrate with Anglian Water staff in a single alliance, the Black and Veatch role embraces all categories of the programme: design and studies, and construction for water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure.

David Nickols, President of Black and Veatch Water Europe division, commented: "Following recent successful bids with Welsh Water, DRD Water Service N.Ireland, Thames Water and Northumbrian Water, this latest award demonstrates the appeal of our integrated approach and the strengths of combining our consulting, contracting and refurbishment capabilities".

Chris Newsome, Director of Asset Management at Anglian Water, added: "One of the key challenges for the alliance will be responding to the efficiencies set by the regulator, Ofwat, and ensuring that Anglian Water are favourably positioned for the next period review in 2009".

Collectively providing design and studies, and construction capabilities, the Alliance for Anglian Water Services comprises.

* Black and Veatch Ltd.

* Balfour Beatty Utilities Ltd.

* Barhale Construction PLC.

* Biwater Treatment Ltd.

* Carl Bro Ltd.

* Skanska Construction UK Ltd.

* Aker Kvaerner Engineering Services Ltd.

In addition, EC Harris has been appointed as Facilitation Consultants and Turner and Townsend have been appointed as Cost Assurance Consultants.

Work will be allocated and delivered by the Alliance on a 'best for the task' and 'best person for the task' basis, with workload closely linked to performance.

Much of the work will be delivery with staff co-located at the Anglian Water office in Peterborough.

If AMP4 is delivered successfully for AWS, the Alliance could continue until the end of AMP5 (year 2014).
