Situated in the South Western corner of India, Kerala is a 550km long, 150km wide strip of lush tropical land that lies between the mountains of the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea.
The Kerala Water Authority provides drinking water to 79% of the Urban and 57% of the rural population and it aims to serve 100% of the population with safe drinking water.
The project comprises five schemes.
There will be about 30 pumping stations at the different treatment works and in the distribution system.
Three existing treatment works of combined capacity of 144 Ml/d and associated pumping stations are to undergo rehabilitation.
The consultant for the design and supervision is the TEC Consortium led by Tokyo Engineering Consultants (TEC).
The other parties are Black and Veatch, GKW of Germany, Shah Technical Consultants (STC) of Mumbai, India and local firm Centre for Environment and Development of Thiruvananthapuram, India.
