Black and Veatch has successfully completed a technical study, including survey and modelling for the world's leading airport company BAA at London Gatwick Airport to improve sewer discharges Working with TPS Consult, Black and Veatch updated the existing hydraulic model of the foul sewers and pumping stations that serve the airport North Terminal, and also proposed measures to meet the commissioning of Pier 6

Due to construction time constraints, both temporary and permanent solutions for accommodating the Pier 6 flows were proposed, as well as an assessment to meet the demands of the passenger forecasts to 2013.

Baseline assessment and drop tests on pumping stations were conducted, whilst a Black and Veatch desk study analysed throughput and water consumption.

[Pier 6 is connected to the main terminal by a bridge over a live taxiway.

This is the largest bridge of its kind in the world, enabling B747 aircraft to pass underneath.].
